Lancaster City Council is made up of 61 democratically elected councillors (also known as elected members).
Councillors are responsible for taking decisions about the provision of important public services such as planning, housing, waste and recycling, street cleaning, leisure and culture.
Council Champions
A Champion is a non-executive councillor appointed to provide a focus on a specific area of the council’s business, or where a community group needs to ensure it is given due regard in relation to the activities of the council. Currently the council has two champions. Councillor Roger Dennison is the Armed Forces Champion and Councillor Abi Mills is the Disability Champion.
