Cashless parking (RingGo)

Cashless parking is available in all Lancaster City Council pay and display car parks, using a system called RingGo.
RingGo is a cashless way to pay for your parking in Lancaster and Morecambe using just a mobile phone and a credit or debit card. Cashless parking is a quick and secure way to pay for parking if you do not have change available for the Pay and Display machine.
How to use RingGo cashless parking
- To use RingGo in a Lancaster City Council pay and display car park, simply dial 01524 884300 and follow the instructions.
- Each car park has a unique RingGo location code
- Smartphone and iPhone users can download the free RingGo app, which identifies your location, making paying to park even easier.
Weekly, 1 month, 3 month and 12 month session permits are available from RingGo, valid in all Lancaster and Morecambe long stay permit car parks on a seven day basis.
Session permits will replace paper-based general Lancaster and Morecambe contract permits (whether paid in advance or by direct debit).
1 month permits are a new option providing the same convenience as paying via direct debit.
Please note that to use the RingGo service you must register for a RingGo account at register with RingGo.
The location codes are displayed on the pay and display machines or adjacent on the information board in every Lancaster City Council car park where RingGo is available to use.
RingGo is an additional way of paying for parking. All Lancaster City Council pay and display car parks still have ticket machines which accept cash to pay for your parking.
When you call the RingGo service from any Lancaster City Council pay and display car park, so long as you use the number 01524 884300 as shown on the signs in the car parks, you will be making a local phone call. The call duration, once you have registered, will often be less than a minute, so the call cost will be minimal.
There is an additional 20p convenience fee for paying to park with RingGo.
If you order either a text confirmation message of your parking session being paid or a text reminder, for when your parking is going to run out, you will be charged for these texts, at a cost of 10p per text message.

Yes. You only have to enter your credit or debit card details when you first set up your account. The details are stored in a PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliant system in a secure environment. These details are encrypted and do not have to be re-entered, displayed or spoken during a transaction.
No, you don’t need to pre-register to use RingGo – you can register over the phone when you want to park the first time. However, it will save you time when you are going to park for the first time if you are preregistered. Register at www.myringgo.co.uk
Yes, you can call RingGo from a landline, but only if you have a pre-registered mobile account. When calling from a landline you will need to quote your mobile number and the four digit PIN code you were given when you first registered.
There are two options available for those who are hard of hearing.
Smartphone app - available on 5 platforms - Iphone, Android, Windows, Blackberry and Firefox. You can use this option to both register for first time use of the service and thereafter to pay. To download the app visit www.myringgo.co.uk/apps
If you do not own a smartphone, an alternative way of making a payment is by text message.
To use this option, register for free via www.myringgo.co.uk where you can enter your credit/debit card details. Once registered, you will subsequently be able to use 07786203121 or our short-code number of 81025 to text park when they park. More information is available at www.myringgo.co.uk/texttopark
If you have forgotten or lost your RingGo PIN it can be sent to you via a text message. Visit the RingGo website for more details.
Each time you use the RingGo service your call will end with a clear statement of the parking session that you have purchased. If in doubt simply call back using the same phone that you used to make the original call, if a valid session has been purchased then the details will be summarised. For added peace of mind you can elect to receive a text confirmation (at an additional cost of 10p) to be sent every time you park. As an alternative you can check on the RingGo website, where all your current and past parking sessions are shown under the “Monthly Statements” section.
If you need a VAT receipt for your RingGo parking session, you can view and print it online at the RingGo website. For security you will be asked to enter your 4 digit PIN which was provided when you used the online system the first time.
We advise that you should not pay in advance for your parking session for two reasons. Firstly, because there may not be a space available at your chosen location when you try to park. Secondly, because the metered time of the parking session will commence as soon as you finish making the RingGo call.
Yes, additional vehicles can be added to your RingGo account either through the RingGo website by selecting ‘My Summary’ or on the mobile telephone app selecting ‘My Account’. Follow the instructions to ‘Add’ another vehicle.
Yes, you can change your mobile number on your RingGo account through the RingGo website by selecting ‘My Summary’ and ‘Contact Details’ where you can update and save a new mobile number.
No. RingGo sessions are not transferable between vehicles.
No. RingGo sessions are not transferable to other car park locations.
The tariff you are charged is based on the location code and duration you specify for the parking session. As long as the correct location is used, the correct tariff will be charged.
When you park with RingGo no ticket is created. Because your car will not be displaying a pay and display ticket the Civil Enforcement Officer when patrolling the car park, will check your number plate on a mobile phone linked to the RingGo system. This will confirm whether you have a valid parking session booked with RingGo.
You need to appeal in writing to Lancashire Parking Services who will look into why the PCN was issued. Contact details on where to make an appeal can be found on the PCN.
