The Coronation ceremony to mark His Majesty King Charles III’s ascension to the throne will take place at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday May 6, 2023.

There will be celebrations throughout the UK and Commonwealth as communities come together to reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.

An extra bank holiday will take place across the UK to mark the coronation of King Charles III and it will fall on Monday, 8 May 2023, two days after the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

The bank holiday will provide an opportunity for communities and people throughout the United Kingdom to come together to celebrate the Coronation.
