Community alarms and Telecare
Lifeline offers remote monitoring in your home and emergency personal assistance when you need it to help to make your life easier, safer and more comfortable.
The service works via an easy-to-use personal alarm that you can use to call for assistance or gain reassurance from the call centre staff that the unit is linked to, day or night, 24/7, 365 days a year helping you to receive the appropriate help required.
Providers such as Progress Lifeline also provide a 24/7 Home Response service, to support those who may not have family or friends living close by. Responders are trained in assistive lifting so if you fall and are uninjured they can get you back on your feet without involving the emergency services.

Additional support via telecare can be provided by Lancashire County Council.
This is where additional equipment is connected to the Lifeline unit to help with raising the alarm where a person:
- has fallen and is unable to call for help
- has a tendency to wander away from the house
- is having seizures or blackouts as a result of a medical condition
- needs a reminder to take medication as prescribed
