Our Future Coast Privacy Notice
We collect information in relation to The Our Future Coast project, which is a DEFRA Flood Coastal Resilience Innovation Programme project. We will be collecting contact details of landowners which will be shared with our project partners (Wyre Council and Morecambe Bay Partnership). Residents who are interested in being a part of the community led design and implementation of any schemes will also be asked for their contact details so they can be briefed at appropriate intervals.
We are committed to protecting your privacy, and this statement is made in light of the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation 2016 and the Data Protection Act 2018 in order to advise you how we use your personal information.
When do we collect personal information?
We collect information from you when you fill in our consent form, which will either be sent via post or be available on our website. Landowner addresses will be taken from publicly available land registry data.
What personal information do we collect?
If consent is granted by you, we will collect basic personal information which includes your name and contact details, and the method of contact which is preferred.
How do we use your personal information?
We use your personal information in order to:
- discuss what measures of natural flood alleviation we would like to implement on the sites owned by landowners
- contact residents who want to know more about the project as it progresses, this may include, but is not limited to, invites to community led design workshops, progress updates, newsletters etc.
We will not use your data for marketing purposes or pass on details to any parties outside of the project partners or their paid contractors. Data will be kept for the duration of the project, which is due to end in 2027, if there is an extension to the project there will be another opt in consent form sent to you.
Do we share your information with anyone else?
We will only share data specifically in relation to the Our Future Coast project and only with the relevant delivery partners and stakeholders, as detailed below.
We will be sharing your data with Wyre Council as they are the lead authority for the project which spans the North West Coast from the Mersey to Solway Firth. Wyre council have employed a project manager from WSP consultants, and an independent Consultant to lead the Morecambe Bay Partnership engagement officer, if necessary, your details will be passed to these partners to assist us with the running of this project. These suppliers only use your data on our instructions. They won’t use it for any other reason, will look after it in the same way we would, and will destroy any personal data they hold as soon as it is no longer required.
We will not share your information with any other organisations unless required to do so by law.

You have a number of rights under data protection law, including the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and the right to object to our use of your information in certain circumstances. Where you have previously given us consent to use your information for a specific purpose, you can also withdraw this consent at any time.

We reserve the right to amend this privacy notice at any time. However, we take your privacy very seriously and will never change our policies or practices to make them less protective of your personal information.
