Tattoo hygiene rating scheme
We have introudced a Tattoo Hygiene Rating Scheme to improve standards of hygiene in tattoo studios and allow the public to choose a salon that meets high standards of hygiene. We encourag as many local tattoo businesses as possible to sign up to the voluntary scheme to promote good practice and give customers confidence in the services provided.
Each studio is awarded a rating from 1-4. They are given a sticker to display in their premises and the current hygiene ratings are published below

The rating criteria are summarised below.

Rating progression
- Rating 2 – must satisfy all of the requirements
- Rating 3 - must satisfy all of rating 2 and all of rating 3
- Rating 4 – must satisfy all of rating 3 and all of rating 4 conditions
Achieving a 4 rating
To achieve the highest 4 rating, tattoo establishments will be assessed on the following criteria.
