Heritage strategy
Lancaster City Council carried out a public consultation on a draft Heritage Strategy (PDF, 9.6MB) for the district from Monday 30th July to 10th September 2018 and held three public drop-in events in July and August 2018.
The district’s heritage is extraordinarily rich and includes archaeological remains, designed gardens and parklands, buildings and structures from various historic periods and these are of national and local significance. It is important that the historic environment is not overlooked. The strategy sets out ways in which the value of this heritage can be maximised and how it can directly shape the environment, economic and social future of the district.
The consultation responses to the draft strategy are being considered by Council’s Conservation Team. More details to follow.
