Bank holiday changes to council services
As a mark of respect, Lancaster City Council is suspending refuse and recycling collections next Monday (September 19), the day of the funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II.
The day has been designated as a bank holiday and all collections will be moved a day, as follows:
Usual collection day |
New collection day |
Monday 19th | Tuesday 20th |
Tuesday 20th | Wednesday 21st |
Wednesday 21st | Thursday 22nd |
Thursday 22nd | Friday 23rd |
Friday 23rd | Saturday 24th |
The bank holiday will also affect the opening of some council buildings. The Customer Service Centres at Lancaster and Morecambe town halls will both close on the day, but books of condolence will still be available to sign between 10am and 4pm. Salt Ayre Leisure Centre, The Storey, city council’s museums and Visitor Information Centres will also be closed, as will the car park at St Nics Arcades.
Any other changes to council services will be publicised on the council’s social media channels @lancastercc.
The council’s normal emergency standby arrangements will operate as normal.
