The glitzy awards seek to acknowledge and honour the tireless individuals, teams and salons, whose sole aim is to provide their customers with impeccable services, innovative treatments and bespoke advice.

Tranquil Spa & Beauty overcame stiff competition from established private sector beauty salons across Lancashire.

Councillor Sandra Thornberry, cabinet member for arts, culture, leisure & wellbeing, said: “This is another outstanding achievement for the team at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre, and specifically Tranquil Spa and Beauty. To compete, and succeed, against private sector businesses in this way highlights the exceptional service and facilities available at the centre.”

The Spa consists of a Thermal Spa Journey, Aroma Steam Room, Herbal Sauna, Ice Chute and a Watermill Sauna, the first of its kind in the UK, which soothes aches and pains whilst detoxing the mind and body.

In addition, a range of therapeutic face and body care treatments are available, such as facials, massage and scrubs, and nail treatments.

This award further bolsters Tranquil Spa’s trophy cabinet, after having previously won ‘Spa of the Year’ at the 2020 English Hair & Beauty Awards and claiming the same title at the local Bay Business Awards in 2019.

Rachel Williams, Salt Ayre Leisure Centre General Manager, added: “I couldn’t be more delighted for the team. To achieve another national award after the challenges that Covid-19 has thrown at us is an outstanding achievement.

“Credit to this team, who were helping support our local community by working as part of the Morecambe Bay Foodbank at the height of the pandemic, and have since returned to their therapist roles with renewed passion and enthusiasm to push our business forward and deliver outstanding service.

“We also couldn’t have achieved so much in the short time we have been open without our wonderful customers, who have supported us along our journey.”

Tranquil Spa & Beauty opened in 2017 as part of the multi-million pound development project at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre.

In the latest development the centre has undergone a decarbonisation programme through the replacement of its gas boilers with air source heat pumps, external LED lighting and upgraded glazing to reduce energy consumption. A solar farm has also been built on the adjacent disused landfill site to generate electricity.
