Tribute paid to Councillor Merv Evans
Lancaster City Council has paid tribute to Councillor Merv Evans, who passed away on Friday.
Councillor Evans was elected in May 2019 to represent the Westgate ward. For a time he served on the city council’s Cabinet and undertook the portfolio for economic recovery and resilience.
Above all he was a staunch advocate for his home town of Morecambe.
The Mayor of Lancaster, Councillor Joyce Pritchard, said: “Merv was a real champion for Morecambe, its residents and businesses.
“Along with everyone at Lancaster City Council I would like to pay tribute for his work over the years and send my deep condolences to the family.”
Details of funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
