Tribute paid to HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh
The Mayor of Lancaster, Councillor Malcolm Thomas, has paid tribute to HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh following his passing.
The Mayor said: “The nation is today united in grief. During the greatest period of cultural and technological change our great country has ever seen the Duke of Edinburgh has provided stability, dignity and composure and unwavering support to the nation and the Queen.
“The sense of duty and friendship he brought wherever he went will be greatly missed. His legacy will live on through the Duke of Edinburgh awards, which he founded in 1956 and have done so much to help young people develop themselves as they enter adulthood."
The Union Flag is being flown at half-mast on both town halls. Further announcements will be made in due course.
