Join us for a Community Conversation

Lancaster City Council is partnering with other public bodies and third sector organisations to host a series of conversations focused on community strengths and wellbeing in our district.

These conversations will share initiatives and ideas that support; healthy & happy communities, community power & resilience and the development of a local wealth building model that has wellbeing and climate change action at its heart.

The first conversation, ‘Community Power and Resilience’, will be held on Thursday July 23 at 6.30pm. It will celebrate some of the achievements of services and community during the Covid-19 crisis and consider how we can do more to release community power.

Councillor Alistair Sinclair, Lancaster City Council’s cabinet member for Communities and Social Justice, will host the first conversation, part of a developing dialogue to explore how we can work together with communities to create a safe, sustainable and socially just district.

Future conversations will cover different themes and be hosted by a wide range of partners:

  • 6.30pm Thurs 20th August: ‘Our Wellbeing District: Lessons from communities’
  • 6.30pm Thurs 17th September: ‘Building our Wellbeing Wealth: an exploration of Community Wealth Building & Wellbeing’

Councillor Sinclair explained: “The way our communities have rallied around to support their neighbours, friends and relatives over the last few months has been nothing short of inspiring.

“The council wants to build on the new connections we have made during the Covid-19 crisis and develop a 20 30 Plan that will drive real sustainable change. We live in a time of great anxiety and this has really impacted on everyone’s wellbeing.

"If we come together as a community we are stronger. These conversations, part of our ongoing community engagement, will focus on what we can do to help each other and how we can make our district a healthier and fairer place to live.

“Lots of different organisations have come together to host these conversations. We invite all those interested in building wellbeing in our district to come and join them.”
