Thinking of standing for election?
Two briefings have been arranged for people thinking of standing in this year’s local elections.
On Thursday May 2 voters will go to the polls to elect new Lancaster City and parish councillors to represent them until 2023.
Briefings for potential candidates and agents will take place on Wednesday March 6 at Lancaster Town Hall and Monday March 11 at Morecambe Town Hall. Both start at 7pm and details of the election process will be explained. Due to recent changes in legislation, important information will be provided about the completion of the nomination forms.
Nomination packs will be available to collect at the end of the briefing, or from Lancaster Town Hall during normal office hours from Thursday March 7.
Completed nomination forms will be accepted at Lancaster Town Hall from Monday March 18 between 10am and 4pm. The deadline for receipt of nominations is 4pm on Wednesday April 3.
Becoming a local councillor can be a very rewarding experience – it offers a unique opportunity to make a difference to your community and to help shape, direct and monitor the services which affect the people who live in, work in and visit the Lancaster district.
