Sponsored walk in aid of the Mayor's charities

The Mayoress of Lancaster, Mrs Joyce Mace, will be undertaking a sponsored walk from Heysham Port to Happy Mount Park on Sunday April 15.

Starting at 1pm the walk will raise money for the Mayor’s charities, Macmillan Cancer Support and the work of the Royal National Lifeboat Association in Morecambe Bay and the Lune Estuary.

The Mayoress will be joined by the deputy mayor, Coun Stuart Bateson, for the five mile walk which will end at Happy Mount Park café at around 3pm.

The Mayor, Coun Roger Mace, commented: “Many local people are likely to have personal knowledge of the services these two charities provide.

“In both cases, the services have the potential to save lives and people will dig deep and support the Mayoress and deputy mayor as they raise money for these worthwhile causes.”

Macmillan Cancer Support has recently announced that the Mayor will be formally opening the new Macmillan Information Centre at the Lancaster Royal Infirmary on Monday 16 April.

If you would like to donate, please contact Jenny Kay at The Mayor's Office at The Town Hall, Dalton Square, Lancaster LA1 1PJ, or email jkay@lancaster.gov.uk

The Mayoress and deputy mayor will also have collecting buckets with them throughout the sponsored walk for people to make contributions.
