Go the extra mile during health week
Local residents are being encouraged to travel one mile under their own steam as part of a county-wide health and fitness event.
The ‘1 Mile Your Way’ event will take place on Thursday, September 21, and aims to get as many people as possible up and active during the course of the day.
People taking part can run, walk, skip, dance or do the distance in whatever way they fancy either on their own or with friends, family, classmates or colleagues.
Once completed, participants are being asked to register their mile via the dedicated event webpage www.lancaster.gov.uk/yourmile
The event forms part of a wider Health Week initiative which will run from 18 – 24 September. The week will be hosted by the Lancashire County Council funded Active Lives Programme which is being delivered across Lancashire.
During the week the local Active Lives Team based at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre will be hosting a wide range of free activities and information sessions at various locations across the district which will cater for all ages and abilities.
Free activities on offer include adult health checks, children’s learn to cycle sessions, family XHeight indoor climbing sessions, Active Mum’s to Be sessions, Get Active Kids sessions and much more.
