Free support for local businesses

Local businesses and entrepreneurs are being invited to a free business support and networking event later this month to help them prepare for the challenges they may face as a result of the UK leaving the EU.

The second Inspiring Business Growth event will take place in the Banqueting Suite at Lancaster Town Hall on Wednesday June 28 from 5pm-7pm.

As well as offering businesses plenty of time for networking, there will also be a business support marketplace, showcasing the support available in our district, with experts on hand to offer advice and information.

Professor Frank Peck from the University of Cumbria’s Centre for Regional Economic Development will talk about the implications of Brexit, whether our rural and urban businesses will be affected differently, and what businesses can do to prepare for the challenges ahead.

Lancaster University Management School’s Professor Martin Spring will be talking about the North West and Industry 4.0, covering cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things and cloud computing.

The free event is being hosted by Lancaster City Council in collaboration with NatWest, the University of Cumbria, Lancaster University, Boost Business Lancashire and the Lancaster District Chamber of Commerce.

Coun Janice Hanson, Cabinet member with responsibility for economic regeneration, said: “This event brings together all of our district’s businesses and support organisations and promises something for everyone. Both of our speakers will cover important topics that will increasingly affect every single business, whether they realise it or not. There will also be valuable networking time, and I hope that as many businesses and entrepreneurs as possible will come and take advantage of the wealth of expertise available”.

Numbers are strictly limited and places at the event must be booked in advance at www.inspiringbizgrowth2.eventbrite.co.uk
