Lancaster – ninth best place to live in the country!

Lancaster district is one of the 10 best places to live in the country – and that’s official!

On Tuesday evening, in a Channel 4 documentary, property guru Sarah Beeny travelled the country and used data from the Office of National Statistics and the census, and statistics on key lifestyle factors to find out the best place to live in the UK.

Taking into account affordability of housing, jobs, business, wellbeing, culture and family life, Lancaster beat off stiff competition from hundreds of other UK areas to come ninth.

Coun Eileen Blamire, leader of Lancaster City Council, said: “It’s no surprise to me that Lancaster district did so well in this survey. With its unrivalled mix of city, coast and countryside, it can boast having something for everyone to enjoy.

“The task now is to keep improving and ensure that if this survey is repeated in future years that we come out at number one!”

Lancashire as a whole dominated the survey, with South Ribble coming first overall, with the Ribble Valley also making it into the top 10.
