Become a market trader for free during Love Your Local Markets Fortnight

Lancaster City Council is urging residents to support their local markets during Love your Local Markets Fortnight, a national celebration of our UK market culture that takes place in May each year.

To mark the fortnight which runs from 17 – 31 May, the council is offering free stalls to local budding entrepreneurs at its historic outdoor Charter Market and indoor Assembly Rooms Emporium in Lancaster and covered Festival Market in Morecambe.

This opportunity is perfect for small and start-up businesses wanting to make themselves known, showcase their skills or bring their product to the high street.

Anyone interested in taking up space at either of the city council’s markets to celebrate Love Your Markets Fortnight should complete and submit the online form at lancaster.gov.uk/traderinterest Offers of free pitches and stalls are subject to availability so it is advised that people register an interest as soon as possible. Terms and conditions apply.

Tracey Bruce, city council Markets Manager, said:  “Love Your Local Market fortnight is the biggest national market event of the year.  We hope that by marking the event with the offering up of free stalls and pitches to local budding entrepreneurs we will inspire people to pursue a career in market trading as well as demonstrate how important markets are to our local community."

Information on all three markets is available at www.lancaster.gov.uk/markets

During the fortnight, the Festival Market in Morecambe will also be treating its shoppers to a daily free prize draw. Customers can pick up a ticket each time they make a purchase at any of the stalls to be in with a chance of winning one of a number of fabulous prizes.
