Are you one of those not yet registered to vote?

Lancaster City Council is urging people who have not yet registered to vote to complete and return their annual canvass forms and save themselves a knock on the door.

Each year the council is required by law to canvass every household in the district and produce a Register of Electors.

Every household will have now received a canvass form but around 40% have yet to register or confirm their details.

Those who have not yet responded can expect a knock on the door from one of the council’s team of canvassers between September 19 and October 20.  All canvassers will be wearing a badge and will not ask you to reveal any personal details on the doorstep.

Lisa Vines, Lancaster City Council’s Elections Manager, said:  “We’ve made it as easy as possible for people to register their details and I would urge people who haven't already registered to do so as soon as possible.

“If you don’t, we will have to visit your household personally to remind you so I would urge anyone who hasn’t yet responded already to do so as soon as possible."

If there have been no changes in your household, you can confirm this using the electronic response options detailed on the form, or you can sign and return the paper form using the prepaid envelope provided

Changes can only be made using the online response option, or by making them on and then returning the paper form.
