Take a walk on the wet and wild side this summer with a Cross Bay Walk

A new leaflet promoting the summer programme of cross bay walks has now been published and available free of charge.

Produced by Lancaster City Council, the leaflet features all the dates, booking details and the practical information you will need to embark on this unique and exhilarating experience.

Starting from Hest Bank or Arnside’s promenade, the Queen’s Official Guide to the Sands, Cedric Robinson, will lead the various walks which are each dedicated to raising money for local charities in the bay area.

Walks are about 8 miles long and take about 4-5 hours depending upon the route taken on the day and usually end at Kent’s Bank which is roughly 1.5 miles from Grange-Over-Sands.

Coun Darren Clifford, Cabinet member with responsibility for tourism and leisure, said:  “Morecambe Bay is a wonderful place to visit and the guided cross bay walks provide an unforgettable experience to take in the breath taking natural beauty of the bay and the diverse range of wildlife you get to see along the way.

“Even so, beyond its beauty, the bay can also be a treacherous place and venturing out into the bay should only be attempted alongside a knowledgeable and experienced guide.”

The leaflet is available to pick up from Lancaster and Morecambe Visitor Information Centres and Town Halls.  You can also download a copy at www.exploremorecambebay.org.uk
