Lancaster City Council flies the flag for the armed forces

Lancaster City Council will be showing its support for the Armed Forces next week when the Armed Forces Day flag will be hoisted at both Lancaster and Morecambe Town Halls.

Along with all local authorities in the country the flags will be hoisted on Monday 20 June at 10.30am. The Mayor of Lancaster, Coun Robert Redfern, will preside over the raising of the flag in Lancaster and the deputy mayor, Coun Carla Brayshaw, in Morecambe.

All members of the Armed Forces Family are invited to attend.  After the flags are raised, all those attending are welcome to join the Mayor or Deputy Mayor for refreshments.

Lancaster Town Hall - please assemble in Dalton Square gardens from 10.15am.

Morecambe Town Hall - please assemble in the gardens at the front of the town hall at 10.15am.

The flags will remain flying until Armed Forces Day on Saturday June 25.

The Mayor said:  “I am delighted to be able to be part of this special day and would love to see all members of the Armed Forces Family joining myself and the Deputy Mayor to watch these special flags being hoisted at our town halls.

“We will fly these flags with pride to be grateful for everyone who has, is and will serve in our armed forces.”
