Search launched for new chief executive

Lancaster City Council has launched the search for a new chief executive.

Application packs for the post are now available and people from both the public and private sector are being urged to apply.

The successful candidate will take the over the reins from the current chief executive Mark Cullinan, who is retiring in the summer 2016 after 16 years with the council.

Coun Eileen Blamire, leader of Lancaster City Council, said: “We’re looking for someone who has the ambition and drive to ensure the social, economic and environmental well-being of the district.

“Our district and the wider region is facing immense change. We aim to maintain our leading role in helping to shape the future for the region and our district for the good of our people. Guiding the path we take is our ethos as an ‘Ensuring Council'."

The recruitment pack sets out all the key information and evets leading up to the appointment being made by Full Council at the end of March 2016

An ‘adhoc’ committee of 20 councillors has been set up to oversee the recruitment process.

The committee will make a recommendation on who should be appointed, but ultimately it will be for the Full Council to approve the appointment.
