Lift Safety
We carry out regular inspections and maintenance of all lifts in communal areas, these checks help to spot and fix any problems before they become a safety issue.
Why Is Lift Safety Important?
Lift safety is important because it helps prevent accidents and keeps people safe. Regular checks and maintenance make sure that lifts work properly and meet safety rules. If lifts aren’t checked or repaired when needed, they could become dangerous.
What Lancaster City Council Does
Lancaster City Council is responsible for making sure all the lifts in our buildings are safe. We follow the latest safety rules to protect everyone who uses our lifts.
Lift Safety Checks And Maintenance
Safety Checks: We conduct safety check on all lifts in shared areas like hallways and stairwells at least twice a year, as required by law.. This includes passenger lifts and service lifts. These checks help us find any problems early so we can fix them before they become dangerous. This includes testing the emergency alarm, making sure the lift runs smoothly, and checking all the main parts.
Qualified Engineers: Our lifts are inspected by trained engineers who make sure they meet all safety rules.
Extra Checks During Building Work: If there’s big work happening near a lift, we do extra checks to make sure it doesn’t get damaged and stays safe to use

Scheduled Servicing: We service and maintain all lifts on a regular basis using only specialist lift engineering companies with fully competent and trained personnel.
