Information about council tax discounts, eligibility criteria, disregarded persons, and reductions and premiums for empty properties.

Discounts - empty homes

Unfurnished empty homes needing major repairs or structural alterations to render them habitable will receive a discount of 50% for a maximum period of twelve months.

Unfurnished empty homes will receive a discount of 100% for one month from:

the last time anyone lived in them, or
when they were built (for new properties)

Please contact us if you think you may be entitled to a discount. We may need to contact you or visit the property to check some of the information you provide to ensure that a discount is applicable.

Please let us know if you are receiving this reduction and the circumstances under which it was granted have changed.
