Charges for replacement bins and boxes

In April 2016, a service charge was introduced to cover the cost of replacement bins and boxes, in addition to the provision of containers for new properties in the district.

Each year the council spends in excess of £100,000 replacing wheeled bins and recycling boxes. To cover the administration costs we make a service charge. The cost of the container is subsidised but this allows us to recoup some of these costs.

The charge is a one-off cost for the administration and provision of the containers. The containers remain the property of Lancaster City Council.

How do I order replacement bins and boxes?

Once payment has been confirmed your bins will be delivered within 15 working days.

Keep your bins and boxes safe

Once you have your bins and boxes, it is your responsibility to keep them safe and mark them clearly with your house name or number to prevent them from going missing or being stolen. This can be painted on your bins and boxes.

If your collection is from the rear alley you should ensure you have your house name or number on your gate.
