Help shape the district’s future – submit land for potential development
Lancaster City Council is asking for suggestions of land that may be suitable for development as part of the preparation of a new Local Plan.
A “Call for Sites” has been relaunched to identify land that may be suitable for a range of uses, including housing, employment and community infrastructure.
The council is asking for sites to be put forward for any potential development use. This could include, but is not limited to:
• Residential – including market, affordable, older people, student and specialist housing
• Gypsy, traveller and travelling showpeople pitches
• Employment - commercial
• Employment - industrial
Submissions are being welcomed from any interested parties, including landowners, businesses, parish councils, community groups, developers, agents and members of the public.
Councillor Sue Tyldesley, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Planning, said: “This is an important stage in the plan-making process and helps the council understand what land may be available for development over the coming years.
“Submitting a site does not mean it will be allocated for development, but it ensures it can be considered as part of a robust and transparent assessment process. All sites will be assessed against a range of criteria, including sustainability, accessibility, environmental impact, and alignment with local and national planning policies.”
This is the final ‘Call for Sites’ that the council will be undertaking. Sites can be submitted through the online portal at www.lancaster.gov.uk/call-for-sites. Anyone wishing to suggest a site should do so by July 20.
