Join the fun and make a difference at Lancaster City Council’s Family Fun Day

Lancaster City Council is set to bring the community together for a vibrant Family Fun Day later this month.

On Sunday, September 28, from 10am to 4pm, the athletics track behind Salt Ayre Leisure Centre will come alive with energy and entertainment for this free admission community event.

There will be lots to see and do, with music from Beyond Radio; a special appearance from Beyond Bear; stalls hosted by charities, community groups and council partners; NHS health checks; and lots of fun activities, including: a bouncy castle; giant games; creative arts and crafts; and energetic family circuits around the athletics track.

Council staff and partner organisations will also take part in a high-energy fundraising truck pull between 1pm and 2pm, where teams will attempt to haul a 7.5 tonne bin wagon an impressive 25 metres along the track. This event will feature live commentary from Beyond Radio—adding to the excitement and suspense.

Spectators are warmly encouraged to show their support by cheering on the teams as they take on this mighty challenge and can donate by visiting the stalls throughout the day.

The Family Fun Day coincides with Salt Ayre Leisure Centre’s Free Fitness Open Weekend, providing visitors with the opportunity to enjoy free fitness classes and access to the gym, membership and spa special offers, competitions, and more.

Will Griffith, Chief Officer for Environment and Place, said: “The Family Fun Day is all about celebrating the fantastic community spirit we have across the district.

“We’re proud to bring together local organisations, charities, and residents for not only a great day out, but to support important causes and promote wellbeing.

“Whether you’re cheering on the truck pull teams, enjoying the music and activities at the track, or discovering the excellent facilities Salt Ayre has to offer, there’s something for everyone."

To take advantage of a free NHS health check on the day between 10am and 3pm, please sign up in advance.
