Mayor of Lancaster launches children’s Christmas card competition

The Mayor of Lancaster is asking primary school children from across the district to get creative by designing her official Christmas card.

The winning design will be sent to a number of important people on behalf of Lancaster City Council — including His Majesty the King.

The Mayor of Lancaster, Councillor Margaret Pattison, said: “I am really excited about receiving the entries produced by the children of our district for my Christmas card competition.

“I know I will love all of the pictures, so it’ll be a tricky decision to choose just one.”

For those children wishing to enter the competition, their design should:

  • Be on a piece of A4 paper of any colour
  • Use strong colours but avoid using glitter
  • Not have things stuck on to it – they don’t copy well
  • Include their name, age, address and telephone number on the back

Designs should be sent to the Mayor’s Office, Town Hall, Lancaster, LA1 1PJ before the closing date for submissions on Friday, 21 November 2025.

The winning artist will be invited to Lancaster Town Hall with up to nine guests for a special meet-and-greet with the Mayor. They’ll enjoy a guided tour of the historic building and receive a framed copy of their design.
