The Platform announces new season of live events in Morecambe
The Platform has announced its new season of live events, featuring music, talks and children’s shows, running from September until the end of the calendar year.
September will see former guitarist for The Faces and regular Rod Stewart collaborator, Jim Cregan, bring his band to the venue on Friday September 9, performing the hits of Stewart and The Faces.
British soul favourites The Real Thing return on Friday September 16 and there will be tributes to Stevie Wonder and Prince as well as the Ultimate 70s show featuring tributes to iconic bands from the era.
The Gospel Bayfest will return on the weekend September 23-25, with full weekend or day tickets available to purchase.
Saba Douglas Hamilton will bring her show ‘In the Footsteps of Elephants’ to town, sharing her expertise on the trials and triumphs of what it takes to save a single species – the African elephant, on Monday October 10.
October will also see performances from 60s girl group, The Three Degrees, The Chris Slade Timeline, Showaddywaddy and Chantel McGregor plus renowned tributes Abbamania and Talon - the best of Eagles.
Champion motorcyclist, truck racer and television presenter Steve Parrish, brings his tour ‘The Parrish Times’ to Morecambe on Thursday October 20. The show tracks his amazing journey over the last four decades, through a rollercoaster ride of emotions in surely the most dangerous and exhilarating sporting arena there is.
November welcomes folk protest singer Grace Petrie on Thursday November 3, and there will be further performances from blues stars Mike Farris and Jo Harman, folk-rock legends Lindisfarne, and high energy folk band Merry Hell.
Respected Pink Floyd tribute Darkside will be performing two shows, featuring the music from Darkside of the Moon on Saturday November 19 and Wish You Were Here on Sunday November 20, with a discounted ticket available when you book both shows.
There will be performances from local bands including Morecambe Band on Sunday November 12, with their ‘Celebrate and Remember’ concert, and the Promenade Concert Orchestra presenting ‘Your 100 Best Tunes’ on Sunday November 27.
Brit-pop band The Bluetones will perform a special Christmas acoustic set on Thursday December 15, featuring front man Mark Morriss and band member Adam Devlin, and there will be performances from The Merseybeats plus tributes to The Beatles and Elvis Presley, over the month too.
Families can enjoy Santa Saves Christmas on Wednesday December 14, a fun musical show for ages 2-7, where every child receives a gift from Santa himself.
The Houghton Weavers will close the season with their Christmas show, featuring their unique blend of popular folk music, humour and audience participation, on Tuesday December 20.
