New refuse and recycling calendars

Householders in the Lancaster district should expect to see their new refuse and recycling collection calendar from Lancaster City Council dropping through their door over the coming weeks.

For residents in Overton, Middleton and some residents in Heysham and Morecambe, the calendars include important changes to which bin is collected on which week, so it is wise to keep hold of your new calendar as these changes may affect you.

The changes only affect the type of bins to be put out for collection not the collection days themselves and is to allow the council to standardise its collection service in line with the rest of Morecambe and Heysham and to improve efficiency.

Anyone who hasn’t received their calendar by the end of June can contact the council’s customer service team by emailing customerservices@lancaster.gov.uk to arrange for the delivery of the new calendar.

The new calendars will also be available to view online at www.lancaster.gov.uk/bins from the beginning of June.

Don’t forget that all paper, card, glass, cans and plastic bottles can be recycled.  Textiles with the exception of shoes, duvets, pillows and cushions can be left out for collection in clearly labelled carrier bags alongside your recycling boxes.

Remember to call Bulky Matters if you have any larger items you no longer need including furniture, fridges and other domestic appliances, TVs and much more.  For a small fee your items will be collected from inside your home at a time to suit you. All items collected are either re-used or recycled, providing training opportunities and helping local disadvantaged people furnish their homes.  For more information and to book a collection visit www.lancaster.gov.uk/bulkymatters
