It’s the first phase of a multi-million pound project to transform the centre into a community hub with a host of exciting new facilities.

Spread over three floors, the extensive soft play area features slides and obstacles to roll, jump around, swing and explore.

Also on offer is the brand new climbing facility featuring 18 different climbing panels with different levels of difficulty, offering a fun and challenging experience for children and adults from five and up.

The new facilities opened on Monday (October 24) and to celebrate the launch The Bay will be on site with their roadshow from 10am to 2pm this Saturday (October 29).

There’s a two for one offer on the indoor climbing all weekend – to book call Salt Ayre on 01524 847540.

Coun Darren Clifford, cabinet member with responsibility for leisure and tourism, said: “With the development of the new soft play and climbing facility Salt Ayre is literally reaching new heights.

“This development is bringing us in line with modern trends, creating a leisure destination that has something for the entire community to come along and enjoy.

“It’s really exciting to see the opening of this first phase and I’m already looking forward to the opening of the new gym and all it has to offer.”

Subsequent phases of the £5million Salt Ayre project will see the development of a fitness suite with 100 stations and a new immersive spinning studio, an outdoor 20 metre high ‘thrill tower’, refurbished changing rooms, spa facility and a multi-functional training room.

In addition to providing better facilities the development will increase income and decrease costs, putting the centre on a better financial footing for the future.
