As part of the community work that's taking place alongside Eden Project Morecambe, we have launched the project Community Wings - Together for Butterflies.

Our aim is to enhance and monitor habitats for butterflies, moths, and pollinators across the Lancaster district. We will support local communities to develop new wild spaces and improve existing ones, along with recording and tracking  of species to inform conservation efforts and measure progress.

By offering training and facilitating volunteer action we will promote well-being and enable people to take meaningful steps to increase biodiversity.

Partners involved in the project include: Butterfly Conservation, Eden Project Morecambe, Lancaster City Council, Natural England, Lancaster District Community & Voluntary Solutions. (LDCVS), Lancaster District Greenspaces, Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape, Lancaster University & currently working with Friends Groups and NHS.

In addition to this work, we have also signed a pledge to become a butterfly friendly district.
