Lancaster City Museum and Lancaster and District Art Society release digital arty advent calendar

Lancaster City Museum has teamed up with Lancaster and District Art Society (LADAS) to create an online advent calendar, sharing a different artwork on the museum’s Facebook page every day in the run up to Christmas.

Usually at this time of year Lancaster City Museum would host LADAS’s exhibition but is unable to do so because of the pandemic. Arty advent provides a chance to share the group’s artworks in a different way, bringing new, local art directly into people’s homes.

Kathy McAdam, chair of LADAS, said: “When I was offered the opportunity for our members to contribute to the advent calendar I was delighted by the idea. In this unusual year we have all had to adapt and innovate to keep ourselves healthy and stimulated. Art can play a large part in that for those of us who enjoy art as a hobby.

“LADAS has been active since 1946 and we hope to continue that for a long time to come. A highlight of our year is our annual exhibition held at Lancaster City Museum so we were disappointed when we realised that the museum would remain closed. Hopefully, we will have our exhibition in spring 2021 so please watch out for the dates and come along to see our work.”

Arty advent can be found at https://www.facebook.com/lancastercitymuseum from December 1 until December 24. More information about LADAS can be found on their website, www.lancasteranddistrictartsociety.com.
