Annual Audit Letters

Each year the Council's External Auditors produce an Annual Audit and Inspection Letter which provides an overall assessment of the Council. It includes a review of how well the Council has progressed (our Direction of Travel) and the Auditor's assessment of how well the Council has managed its finances (the Use of Resources scores)

Constructionline (Database of Qualified Contractors & Consultants)

Constructionline is a national database of pre-qualified contractors and consultants and is the Council's preferred method for selecting supplier and consultants to be invited to tender.

Public Art

Public art is not an art form, but a principle of improving the changing environment through the arts, placing art work in areas other than conventional arts venues. There are numerous examples of public art in Lancaster District, from the Queen Victoria monument in Dalton Square to contemporary commissions such as the TERN project in Morecambe.

Community Arts Project Grants

Lancaster City Council recognises the value, that independent, not-for-profit voluntary, professional and amateur groups can make in creating arts activities in the district for both residents and visitors. The City Council's Arts Development team invite applications from not-for-profit and voluntary sector groups that wish to organise arts projects that will fulfil the aims of this grant scheme. There are three deadlines per year; March 15th, August 15th and December 1st. Each award can be any amount up to £500 for each successful applicant. The arts can either be an extention of a project or the focus of a specific project.

Arts Organisations

Lancaster City Council annually funds five arts organisations £250,000 in total. Ludus Dance, Dukes Theatre, More Music, Storey Gallery and Litfest are all recognised, locally, regionally and nationally as being pioneers in delivering arts initiatives that cover strategic objectives for Lancaster City Council, Lancaster County Council and the Arts Council of England. These organisations represent a broad artistic remit including Music, Theatre, Dance, Visual Arts and Film & New Media.
