Anything with a number 1, 2 or 5 within the recycling triangle can go into your recycling bin, including:
Yoghurt pots,
Margarine tubs
Meat, fruit and vegetable trays of any shape or colour, along with their lids.
No wrappers! Please put wrappers, film and plastic bags in your general waste bin, not in the recycling bin
The colour and shape of the container doesn't matter - the main thing is to check that that it can be recycled, and give it a rinse. If the plastic still has food waste on it, or is covered in plastic film, it can cause a problem as it goes through our recycling system and could end up not be recycled at all.
Lancaster City Council is working with Podback to provide this new free recycling service, helping you to recycle your pods (coffee, tea and hot chocolate) as part of your normal kerbside recycling collection.
For more information and to register to take part in the scheme, visit our Podback page.
The Lancaster district also has two Freegle groups where you can offer unwanted items or look for pre-loved things you need - all free of charge. If you have items you no longer want, why not see if it could be of use to someone else. Visit www.ilovefreegle.org for details of your local group and how to offer items and browse for things you may need.
