Anything with a number 1, 2 or 5 within the recycling triangle can go into your recycling bin, including:

• Yoghurt pots,
• Margarine tubs
• Meat, fruit and vegetable trays of any shape or colour, along with their lids.
• No wrappers! Please put wrappers, film and plastic bags in your general waste bin, not in the recycling bin

The colour and shape of the container doesn't matter - the main thing is to check that that it can be recycled, and give it a rinse. If the plastic still has food waste on it, or is covered in plastic film, it can cause a problem as it goes through our recycling system and could end up not be recycled at all.

There are recycling banks at the following sites for small household electrical items:

• Household Waste and Recycling Centre, Keer Bridge, Scotland Road, Carnforth, LA5 9RQ

Tetrapak cartons can be recycled in tetrapak recycling banks located at:

• Upper St Leonardgate (Seymour Street) Lancaster
• Morecambe Town Hall
• Household Waste and Recycling Centres at Salt Ayre and Keer Bridge, Carnforth

Clean and dry textiles can be placed in a bag and left at the side of your recycling boxes.

Lancaster City Council is working with Podback to provide this new free recycling service, helping you to recycle your pods (coffee, tea and hot chocolate) as part of your normal kerbside recycling collection.
