How to recycle batteries with your kerbside collection
Remove the battery from the electrical item it has been powering.
Place your spent household batteries in a clean recyclable lidded plastic container such as a margarine tub
Clearly mark the container 'Batteries' with a pen
Put the container on top of one of your lidded recycling bins or boxes on collection day
Do not put the tub inside the bin as it may remain unnoticed and could cause a fire on board the wagon or at the processing plant.

We cannot collect car batteries, e-scooter batteries or other industrial batteries. These should be taken to your local household waste recycling centre for safe disposal.
Any excess recyclable waste which you can’t fit into your box will be picked up by our crews if it is placed in a container which can easily be emptied at the kerbside.
Alternatively, you can order wheelie bins for your recyclable household waste.
