7 Regeneration Initiatives
7.1 The Council pursues a number of regeneration initiatives outside of the statutory planning process. These include Site Development Briefs, Master Plans and Area Strategies. Although such documents may not have the status of development plan documents, the Council’s considers that these should be subject to the widest possible community involvement. Where a major regeneration scheme is being carried out by a developer partner, the expectation is that the developer partner will take the lead on community involvement.
7.2 The extent of such measures will depend on the nature and scale of the development proposal but appropriate measures might range from public meetings, exhibitions, and leafleting exercises to ‘Planning for Real’ exercises in which local residents are directly involved in the design of new development. The Council will report the measures undertaken and the responses from any such exercise in a Report of Community Involvement. All persons or organisations who make representations will receive a copy of the report of consultations.
